This pedal is wonderful. Worth every penny. Doesn't sound muffled, eq your amp and overdrive pedals. Other person said not enough gain, this has a fair amount, plus you can take off the bottom of the pedal and adjust more or less gain, I added some and it sounds awesome. The be-od truly is a metal pedal. It has a forceful backbone we called "brutal" back in our head banging days. The dirty Shirley is just an amazing Marshall sound. Is that an overdone market? Sure, but this one is at the top in many players opinions. The texture you get from this pedal is great, a really good amount of clarity and the touch responsiveness is perfect. It rolls off the volume knob really well. Sounds GREAT with my astronomer reverb, zoom ms50g, tiny chorus vibrato and TC flashback. It just really works well with effects. Funny thing is most people that compare them in vids end up torn cause they do different things. Like I said if you want heavy chug get the be-od. This one at its heaviest is like old school metal, but it really is for more textured sounds. I called the be do a huge truck and the Shirley a dude in a camaro, and that still feels pretty right.

I really wanted to like this pedal, and bought it because I love the 'modeled' DIrty Shirley on my Axe FX II.

I knew going in that it wouldn't have a ton of gain, but I don't play metal, and my favorite pedals are the Blues Driver 2 (Boss BD-2 with Keeley Mod), Tube Screamer, and Analogman's King of Tone.

Compared to those, this pedal sounds like it's being muffled by a sweat sock. I tried every knob configuration possible, and tried it with all my guitars, but after 3 or 4 days, I finally decided that I just don't like it at all. It's too mushy and muffled, even at the highest gain setting. It's very much like turning the tone knob all the way down on your guitar, and then boosting it. It's just dull sounding.

Easily the best pedal I own. This is high quality and it sounds fantastic. Has a very decent amount of gain. Not as much as the BEOD, but enough for what I needed in my rig to play hard rock. I've recorded straight with it into my DAW (bypassing an amp) and it sounded good. Would probably sound best paired with a clean tube amp, which I don't have. Sounded great on the clean channel of my solid state Marshall. Recommended for great warm hard rock sounds.

Awesome! Don't waste your time and money on other pedals...this is the one.
